An effective drug for the treatment of autoimmune thyroid (Grave’s) disease

Antithyroid drug Methimazole is recommended for the treatment of patients with Grave’s disease. The practice guidelines suggest, Methimazole dosing of 15–30 mg daily if free T4 is found to be 1.5-3 times of the normal range of 0.8-1.9 ng/dL. The drug helps to achieve normal TSH levels with subsequent lower doses. Adding on to its benefits, Methimazole is found to be safe with lower prescribed doses and no significant adverse effects.
